01.26- Why do people still teach religion when they know it’s not true?
The full question: ‘My parents are making me go to Confirmation classes and it cost them $300 even though they keep telling me how bad the economy is and they don’t believe in any particular religion themselves. They are pretty much agnostic. My Mom says I have to go because she had to when she was a kid, and if I refuse to go she will ground me and take away my phone and driving licence. Why is she making me do something she doesn’t even believe in? And what can I do about it?’
The answer:
It’s called revenge - weak people do it to make themselves feel better about what they had to endure by transferring the blame and the punishment onto someone who is unable to fight back properly.
Idiots often behave like this… It’s kind of like locking a cat in the house, feeding it processed food and then complaining that there is cat hair everywhere, even though a cat wants to (and is meant to) live outside and eat the things it kills.
It is not easy to stop morons behaving like morons.
Despite the fact that parents are meant to teach their kids the best way to live their life, sometimes they miss the mark… and this time, yours are missing the mark by a fucking mile.
I have no sympathy for idiots or morons. But I do have sympathy for you.
Being force fed total and utter bullshit is no way to gain decent knowledge, so you need to learn to vomit up what you are being taught.
This is what I would advise you to do:
Stand up for your principles.
Deal with the punishment they give you.
Don’t do this shit to your kids (if you have any) because that would only be breeding idiots, and there is no more room for idiots on this planet - your parents just took up the last two spaces.
